So at rush time you can make this Rava Upma and serve it for breakfast. You can roast rava and keep it in an airtight container to make upma dishes more quickly. Roasted rava stays good outside and does not turn mouldy as well.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup Rava
  • 2 Onions medium sized chopped
  • 1 Tomato chopped
  • 2 tbsp Green peas
  • 2 tbsp peanuts
  • 2-3 Green chillies chopped
  • 1 tsp Ginger shreded
  • 2 Dried Red Chillies
  • 1 Lemon
  • Curry Leaves
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Udad Dal
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 7-8 Almonds and Cashews
  • Salt as per taste
  • Sugar
  • Corainder chopped
  • Grated Coconut

Instructions
 

  • To start making the Rava Upma Recipe, heat a kadai or pan and dry roast the semolina on medium flame until it turns into a light brown in color and aromatic. Turn off the heat and keep aside in a bowl to cool.
  • In the pan or kadai add 1/2 teaspoon of oil and peanuts, roast peanuts on medium heat until they becomes crunchy and golden brown. Once done turn off the heat and transfer them into a bowl.
  • In an utensil, add 3 cups of water and let it come to boil.
  • While the water is heating, heat the remaining oil in a kadai or pan and add mustard seeds into it. When mustard crackles, add cumin and urad dal in it. Saute them until they become light brown in color.
  • Now add onions, curry leaves, green chilli, and half quantity of peanuts and saute them for a minute till the onions become translucent. Once done, add tomato and cook them for about 2 minutes or more until soft and cooked.
  • Then add green peas, ginger and dried red chillies. Mix well to combine, cover and cook for 2 minutes or until cooked. Add roasted semolina in it and mix it well and add hot water.
  • Stir continuously on low heat, after 2 or 3 minutes to ensure that there are no lumps. Add remaining peanuts to the rava upma. Cover and cook until semolina is cooked well and turn off the heat.
  • Now add lemon juice, dry fruits and sugar, mix well. Rava Upma Recipe is ready to serve, garnish it with chopped coriander and grated coconut.
