Onion Chutney is a side dish that is made from onions, which can be used as a sabzi/Indian veg. The onions are roasted along with green chillies to make this chutney.

The Onion Chutney Recipe replaces the sabzi/Indian veg easily and goes along with Rotis/Chapatis/Bhakaris or Rice.

The flavour of the onions enhances the taste of the Onion Chutney. Traditionally to make the Onion Chutney recipe, tawa is used for sauteing, thus enhancing its flavor. In case you don’t have tawa, any pan, kadai or utensil can be used. This Recipe is also called as Onion Tawa Chutney Recipe.

  • Tawa OR Kadai

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Onions chopped in long slices
  • 2 Green chillies finely chopped
  • Corainder finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1 tbsp Oil

Instructions
 

  • To start making the Onion Chutney Recipe, heat oil in a pan then add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds, let them crackel.
  • Now add the sliced onions into the pan and saute it for 5-7 mins till it gets the light brown colour.
  • Once the onions are tender, add chopped green chilli and cook for another 5 mins. Keep tossing the onions in the pan so that it will not get burnt.
  • When the onions are soften well add the red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt as per taste and mix it well. Cook for 5 mins on low flame.
  • The chutney is ready. Garnish it with the chopped coriander and serve. It can be served as a sabzi along with Rotis/Chapatis/Bhakaris or Rice.
